If You Go Down To The Woods Today

With shade temperatures hitting the sweaty side of 30 degrees in the garden, we set off for the cool of the woods. After wandering aimlessly for a while we followed our trail of gingerbread back and (via a scenic lookout) reached a clearing where we could make camp. We soon had the billy boiling and could sit back and treat our blisters before the next walk. En route to 'The Yat' we nearly stepped on a grass snake and foraged for wild garlic. With RSPB experts on hand, we soon spotted the river. (We also saw a Peregrine Falcon circling overhead.) Then it was back to camp to practice relaxing ahead of a full day of it on Sunday. You're only young once so enjoy yourself! We made a movie to go with the song.

Parkend and Soudley

The loops of the River Severn from the Blaize Bailey viewpoint
Staying at Whitemead in the Forest of Dean combined a base for woodland walks, with all of the benefits of saunas and steam rooms. Advice from a local led us to a fantastic bluebell valley and views across the Severn. A video doesn't do justice to the beauty of it all, but there you go.
